Is Bad Breath Holding You Back?

Are you constantly popping breath mints, chewing gum, or using mouth rinse on a regular basis? Are you self-conscious of your bad breath? You are not alone, millions of people are dealing with the same problem.

What Causes Bad Breath?

There are many reasons why you may struggle with bad breath but some of the most common bad breath causes include:

  1. Poor oral hygiene: One the most common causes of bad breath is food buildup in your mouth. Improper brushing and flossing can leave food particles behind which contributes to an unpleasant smell.

  2. Infections: Which can be caused by a gum disease, a cavity, an abscess, or an ill fitting denture.

  3. Coated tongue: Is when your tongue appears white or yellow. This occurs when bacteria, food debris, and dead cells appear on your tongue.

  4. Dry Mouth: Saliva contains antimicrobial properties that help eliminate the bacteria that causes bad breath. Without this natural production of saliva, your breath can smell stale and foul.

  5. Malnutrition: Poor eating habits can give your breath a foul-smelling, not so pleasant smell. This is because your body starts to break down fat into glycerol when it’s malnourished.
