Why Dental Implants?
Missing teeth not only diminish confidence, but also have a negative impact on overall oral health. Tooth loss can lead to more complex dental issues, including shifting, bite problems, and low jawbone density. After losing a tooth, the proper alignment of the teeth can be disrupted due to the creation of extra space for the teeth to move. Without a tooth or implant lodged in the bone to maintain it, the area around the missing tooth will also begin to lose bone structure over time. This loss of bone volume could jeopardize future implant treatment plans, as there can be not enough bone for the implant to be placed; therefore, better to do it sooner rather than later. Fortunately, dental implants are a reliable, long-lasting solution for tooth loss. At our Lux Dental, we provide comprehensive dental implants treatment, ensuring a balanced smile and optimal oral health.
What are Dental Implants?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth supported by an anchor made of titanium metal. The anchor is inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of the missing natural tooth. Dental implants are a great option to replace a single or multiple missing teeth, or even an entire upper and lower arch of the jaw. Implant supported teeth and/or dentures have the highest rate of patient satisfaction when replacing missing teeth; they are the most similar to a real tooth.

How long does it take to have an implant?
Because everyone has a different healing process, the procedure varies from 2 months to 9 months. This time is affected by many factors including patient age, how long the tooth has been missing, oral health and overall health. If the tooth is an anterior tooth (visible tooth), you have the option of wearing a temporary appliance to visually replace that tooth until the treatment is completed.

Who is a candidate for a dental implant?
Anyone can be a candidate if you have a missing tooth and desire it to be replaced. However, there are specific requirements that must be met to qualify for dental implant surgery. To determine your candidacy, a number of factors are considered, such as:

-
Bone density
-
Overall health of the teeth and gums
-
Position of sinuses, blood vessels, and nerves

During your initial consultation, Lux Dental dentists will perform a full assessment of your teeth, gums, and jaw joints. In addition, x-rays or scans will be taken to evaluate the health and density of the underlying jawbone. Once all necessary information has been gathered, the dentist will speak with you in detail about your concerns and oral health goals. If you are a candidate for dental implants, we will design a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. Ask one of our lux dental dentists about what can be done for you.
